Irish Fruit Scone Recipe
Ingredients:-
1lb Self Raising Flour
2oz Caster Sugar
4oz Butter
4oz Dried Fruit of your choice
1 Egg made up to ½ pint with Milk
Method:-
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees centigrade
Sift the flour into a bowl and add the sugar
Rub in the butter
Add the fruit
Add sufficient liquid to make a soft dough
Turn onto a floured board and gently knead to remove any cracks
Roll out lightly to 1″ in thickness
Cut into scones with a cutter dipped in flour
Place on a floured baking tray, glaze if desired with beaten egg or milk
Bake at 200 degrees centigrade for 5 minutes and then 180 degrees centigrade for 20 minutes
Cool on a wire tray
