This was Milltown House’s first appearance on Irelands national TV channel RTE1.

In Feb 2014 Stephen decided it was time to bring in some elite help to get Milltown House up and ready for its first season re-opened. So he contacted our state television channel, RTE; Wadell Media, and their famous hotel-gurus, the Brennan Brothers – Francis and John.

Here is the blurb from RTE’s website:

“This week the Brennans are challenged by an Irishman and an American who have gone into business together. Stephen McPhilemy is an Irish tour guide and co-owner Patrick Wade is a pharmaceuticals entrepreneur. They recently bought Milltown House in Dingle, Co Kerry. The 10-bedroom guesthouse has Hollywood connections as it was once rented by Robert Mitchum. Stephen and Patrick have ambitions to make this one of the finest guesthouses in Dingle. However, there’s an awful lot of work to be done and they have no experience. Can the Brennans make this Irish-American dream come true?”

11 months on, and tons of world-class professional advice later, Milltown House appeared to the nation in front of a record-breaking tv audience of 590,000 people! During the broadcast our web-site and server briefly crashed due to 25,000 hits in the space of 10 minutes!

The Kerryman newspaper wrote a nice article on our TV appearance including Stephen’s comparison of walking through Dingle with Francis Brennan as being akin to walking through with George Clooney! Click here to read the article from ‘The Kerryman’

The entire process was great fun and the advice and confidence Stephen & Patrick gained as hoteliers was unparalleled.

Sincere thanks to EVERYONE who helped, friends, neighbours and the truly fantastic Dingle community.
