What’s the Hollywood Connection?

Did Robert Mithum really live in Milltown House?
Yes, Room 2 is the Robert Mitchum Suite with a glorious sea view.

The huge Hollywood star did live in Milltown House in the year 1969 while filming David Lean’s double Oscar-winning ‘Ryans Daughter.’ As a result our gorgeous residence has gained legendary status in Dingle folklore. Milltown House is steeped in nostalgia. We have a display of memorabilia and old photographs from this romantic era in the history of our house.

While you’re enjoying Dingle’s great restaurants and pubs, tell any friendly local that you are a guest at Milltown House and an abundance of Robert Mitchum stories will pour forth.

For further information on the Robert Mitchum connection, check out this article.

Note: the Management of Milltown House would like to assure guests that all traces of the Marijuana plants allegedly grown by Robert Mitchum and his Hollywood cohorts have long since vanished. This has been verified by our professional gardeners.

Gaeilge Failte?/Is Irish spoken?

Ta an teanga tabhatach…

The Irish language is spoken and can be heard in Milltown House on a daily basis. Our levels of fluency range from ‘leaving-cert Irish’ (high-school standard) to fully-fluent and electrifying West Kerry Irish. 80% of our staff are fully fluent, a huge source of pride for us. ALL staff are expected to use even a few words of Irish/cupla focal Gaeilge each day. Nothing is more important that our heritage. One of the main reasons Dingle is so popular.

WHO RUNS MILLTOWN HOUSE?
